the 1st dance

marvin gaye - got to give it up (1/2 of part 1) - (1977)

eventhough i should be jammin up my blogspot with anti-love songs, i am trapped in a warp zone of passionate ideals of love...yes, its wedding season again & my dearest friends april & dan are getting married. of course i am obsessed with what their 1st sing is going to be. i remembered mochis cousins got down to a michael jackson medley. dance routines & all. april dan are totally capable of knocking my socks off with something similar....so im excited either way. the 1st dance is the theme song of your marriage...you know what a lot of pressure is? imagine waking up everyday, with your spouse, to your opening theme song, for the rest of your life!! thats some commitment. to the music, not the spouse. i can recall when i was a young scrub, i thought it would be funny (not pretentious) to have "suspicious minds" as my wedding song. you see i have always been pro-anti-love songs.

but like michael jackson said, i do remember a time when i was in love. me & the man talked about how we would love to torture people by dancing to marvin's "got to give it up". i dont know if it was our cocky narcissistic attitudes, or the fact that we wanted to dance for 13 mins straight "all eyes on us". i think both are the same. but what other 15min song is worthy of dancing to for a couple's first dance, november rain? well ......yes, but im gonna save that one for the lyrical interpretation of my 1st baby's birth.
